When Minoru Yamasaki was appointed chief architect of the WTC, he commissioned Todd Watts to photograph the evolution of his career-capping project. The images that Watts created, among them World Trade Center 3, 1972, reveal a chilling portrait of architectural hubris at its most aestheticized and unremitting.
